Barry Dillon (b 1962) lives in the Burren region of North Co Clare, Ireland. His background is in Electronics Engineering and Computer Science. His sonic interests are primarily in the areas of “Acousmatic – Musique Concrete / Field recordings / Computer Generated music”.
He works with “physically tangible” hardware syntheses, samplers and midi controllers, along with numerous software sound processing tools and VST instruments. In May 2010, He completed a postgraduate Diploma in in “Music and Media Technologies “, at Trinity College, Dublin. In the September of 2011, he Started a Master’s Degree, in Computer Music at NUI Maynooth.
His compositions have been played on the “FoldOver” show, on WOBC 91.5 FM, Oberlin Conservatory of Music, college radio. His entry in the “27/57” call for works, has been presented as a podcast on the "Art in Liverpool FM" web site (http://www.defnetmedia.com/podcasts-and-audio/sonic-art/200-2757-productions/380-barry-dillon.html), supporting Liverpool's European city of culture.
He has had my music played on the “BiP_HOp Generation” show on Radio Grenouille, 88.FM, Marseille, France. He also had works played on “An Taobh Tuathail” on RTÉ Raidió Na Gaeltachta and on Nova, on RTE Lyric FM. He also has had a piece, preformed in the Dublin Fringe Festival 2011.
